A short biography

I was born and grew up in Greenock, Scotland.

I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1982 and after a few years of travelling, painting and a variety of jobs began training as an art therapist in 1986 at St.Albans in Hertfordshire.

Since training as an art therapist I have worked in psychiatric services, social services and the voluntary sector in the area of trauma and recovery. I have worked as an art therapist, counsellor, consultant, trainer, advocate, development officer, manager and political campaigner.

From 1999 to 2001 I was a tutor and course coordinator for the Art Therapy Certificate course at Glasgow University.

From 2004 to 2006 I was tutor and lecturer on MSc Art Therapy training course at Queen Margaret University College Edinburgh.

For six years I was manager of Safe Space, Dunfermline.

I am a member of Perthshire Visual Arts Forum, and the Society of Scottish Artists.
